One of the first ten NHS foundation trusts in England, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides general and emergency services to Hackney and the City of London as well as specialist care in key disciplines. The trust wanted to streamline and automate financial management and purchasing. The challenge was to improve management reporting and decision making and reduce back office administration costs to release funds for front-line, patient-facing services. The trust formed the East London NHS Shared Systems Consortium, a group of ten NHS organizations who run their financial and purchasing processes on a single instance of Oracle and replaced a legacy financial management system with Oracle.
