The centuries-old Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL) is now the number two university teaching hospital in France, after L'Assistance Publique Hopitaux de Paris. HCL wanted to improve competitiveness using tools that improve business management. The challenge was to improve administrators' productivity and quality of service and also improve the hospital information system with integrated management software. HCL implemented Oracle E-Business Suite modules to improve the hospital's management of budgets and finance, hospital cases, purchasing, and general administration and used Oracle Financial Analyzer to improve decision making, budget analysis, modeling, and evaluation of business performance.
