The Department of Art History and Theory at the University of Sydney offers the only full service department of fine arts in any tertiary institution in New South Wales. The department wanted to digitise a massive collection of 35mm slides (400,000+) and to organise the resulting collection into a usable database. By using Web Publisher the company is able to update virtual categories of images. The solution is based on Linux operating system. Cumulus has enabled Dr Pefanis to manage a large quantity of images files (10,000+) into a database system where students can view, week by week, digital images of paintings, sculptures, etc.
