A visit to any hospital's Emergency Room (ER) can be a harrowing experience. In addition to enduring illnesses and injuries until healthcare providers are available, patients and their families often must navigate a labyrinth of waiting areas and exam rooms over the course of their stay. The ability to know the precise location of ER patients would provide numerous benefits to hospital staff, patients, and families, including improved quality of care, reduced patient wait times, and better communication with family members. To find ways to improve the speed and quality of care in its ER and beyond, Missouri's Saint Luke's Health System asked Intel Solution Services to help test an RFID-enabled version of the McKesson STAR PLT application.
