Inter-carrier traffic represents one of the biggest sources of accounts payable, or accounts receivable for many carriers today, and the incredibly complex world of inter-carrier billing and settlement provides a hotbed of opportunities for fraud and revenue loss. Some of the biggest and most successful applications of business intelligence to revenue assurance have been situations where data mining or data warehousing were used to help carriers to identify settlement discrepancies (saving them millions of dollars in flawed settlement claims).
