This paper discusses the architectural options for Oracle Application Server 10g. Oracle Application Server can be deployed in a variety of different topologies allowing individual components to be distributed across multiple servers, or to be duplicated in a clustered configuration. This provides benefits both in terms of application performance and High Availability. Due to this flexibility, Administrators are faced with a large number of architectural and deployment decisions for an Oracle Application Server 10g implementation. This paper examines a variety of deployment options including two-tier, three-tier, and multi-tier topologies. The main focus of this paper is to provide a step-by-step deployment guide for installing Oracle Application Server 10g on the Red Hat Linux Operating System with Dell PowerEdge Servers and Dell/EMC storage.
