Founded in 1861, the University of Washington is one of the oldest state-supported institutions of higher education on the Pacific coast. The university wanted to adopt advanced technologies such as voice-over-IP (VoIP) to seamlessly integrate the University's voice and data network would increase overall efficiency and help to keep costs in line, enabling the University to direct fiscal resources elsewhere while simultaneously maintaining its reputation as an educational institution on technology's cutting edge. As a solution the University of Washington selected an Avaya IP Telephony Solution.
