Virtual Iron 3.1 Enterprise Edition, when installed on the HP BladeSystem with an HP StorageWorks 8000 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA8000), creates a virtualized data center model supporting both Linux and Microsoft Windows guest operating systems and enables live migration of executing operating systems between physical server nodes. Virtual Iron 3.1 software was tested by HP and Virtual Iron on HP ProLiant rack mount and blade server hardware. This paper provides a public lab-validated proof point and a solution proof-of-concept. A hardware bill-of-materials and installation guide for the specific hardware and software tested are included.
