Headquartered in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, the LGT Group is the financial services firm of the Liechtenstein Princely Family. The challenge was to optimize existing Oracle database environment through consolidation of physical servers on IBM - zSeries with Linux; requirements included improved security and availability, simpler systems management, and lower operating costs. As a solution the company installed two IBM z890 servers with duplicate, mirrored hardware and environments in separate locations; Linux virtual servers with Oracle instances run under z/VM; IFL (Integrated Facility for Linux) processors used to help reduce costs.
