This White Paper gives suggestions on how to backup and recover IBM Remote Deployment Manager (RDM) 4.30 (or a later RDM version) servers. It is important to understand that RDM has no built-in high-availability functionality. This paper gives suggestions on how to use standard backup/recovery techniques to protect the RDM servers and how to recover from outages. It describes how it is used these techniques in one specific environment. The procedures described in this paper accomplish their desired functions in a variety of ways. There are alternate techniques available for doing all of these functions. The intent is to illustrate various methods, as well as to describe a way to implement these particular functions.
