W & W Informatik is the IT service provider for Wustenrot and Wurttembergische AG, a German financial company. Success for W & W Informatik depends on its ability to deliver outstanding customer service - which means outstanding IT performance and reliability. Existing storage systems were causing data processing bottlenecks, and the company wanted to find cost-effective ways to move ahead of the competition. Working with Comparex, an IBM Premier Business Partner, the company consolidated five Hitachi and IBM disk subsystems to just two IBM System Storage DS8100s. This would mean moving both the hosted financial data and the company's own e-mail, Linux and IBM AIX systems to a single Storage Area Network (SAN).
