Phase Noise Suppression in OFDM Including Intercarrier Interference

In order to suppress the influence of phase noise in OFDM communications systems, the correction of the Common Phase Error (CPE) does not suffice always, especially when high data rates are required. This paper introduces a phase noise suppression algorithm which estimates higher spectral components of the phase noise process in the frequency domain, thus characterizing the deviation from the phase of a perfect oscillator better than its mean (CPE) only. This enables more effective phase noise suppression. Suppression is possible in both frequency and time domain. Simulation results are shown which demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
