The introduction of x86 dual- or multi-core technology will change commercial and consumer computing while offering new opportunities for software developers. The evolution to multi-core processors is an exciting technological advancement that will play a central role in driving relevant advancements, providing greater security, resource utilization and value for businesses and consumers. The client and consumer markets will have access to superior performance and efficiency compared to single-core processors, as the next generation of software applications are developed to take advantage of multi-core processor technology. Novell has optimized its SUSE Linux enterprise products for AMD64 dual-core technology. The customers will be able to extract the most in performance and reliability when they run the applications on SUSE Linux and the AMD Opteron platform.
