This paper describes the techniques that can create an embedded Linux kernel and embedded Linux applications small enough to fit into in 5.25MB of RAM, leaving up to 1.5MB free for user application code. All the results discussed in the paper are based on the experiments with the Intrinsyc Linux distribution designed for Intrinsyc CerfCube device, which is running the Intel StrongARM 1110 processor with 32MB of SDRAM and 16MB of flash memory.
