Customers implementing server virtualization in a SAN environment would like to maintain SAN best practices and manage Fibre Chanel connections at the virtual machine level. This paper discusses how the Emulex VMPilot management application creates SAN-enabled virtual machines for Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2. Using Emulex LightPulse Virtual HBA technology, VMPilot virtualizes the HBA connection and enables rapid deployment and migration of VMs with SAN-attached storage.
