XML, SOAP, and WSDL are the minimum standards needed to connect two components running on disparate platforms. While these standards make possible what could never be done before they do not provide the protocols needed to allow web services to integrate enterprise systems in an infrastructure neutral fashion. This webcast starts with an overview of past standards and their limitations. Once the limitations of these basic standards are understood the next generation of standards will be presented and it will be shown how these standards will provide the protocols needed for integrated security, reliable messaging, and coordinated transactions - just to name a few.
