Fiserv executives say that SOA has largely been the way they developed the MortgageServ loan servicing automation platform from the beginning, even though the strategy of decoupling business services from the underlying computer coding didn't have a trendy name back then. Fiserv developed its system with the principles of creating an "On-demand environment as described by IBM," the provider of Fiserv's core networking computers. MortgageServ runs in an IBM Customer Information Control System environment. Recent advances in IBM's technology have allowed Fiserv to accelerate its move toward standards-based system integration and data access.
