Looking to rapidly respond to customer needs, lower costs, and gain a competitive advantage, EPL began a J2EE development initiative to update and ultimately phase out their aging legacy mainframe systems. Disparate tools for version control and change management made it difficult for the company's J2EE and legacy mainframe developers to work effectively together. EPL needed a comprehensive software configuration management solution to unify the entire development team. To solve this EPL adopted IBM Rational ClearCase for software asset management and IBM Rational ClearQuest for workflow management and defect and change tracking. Together, these tools provide an integrated solution that is helping EPL automate and enforce a consistent development process.
