HSBC is a global financial services giant, with $40 billion in sales, 230,000 employees and 7,000 offices in 81 countries. HSBC wanted to move ahead of stiff competition in the United Kingdom insurance market with a product and IT infrastructure that could be used by HSBC financial agents to approve insurance policies for customers in minutes and produce solid profit margins for HSBC. The solution to this was the xpert Bridge underwriting engine which features IBM DB2 and WebSphere middleware, IBM eServer pSeries and zSeries and xpertBridge Rules Designer and xpertBridge Publisher from Allfinanz, Inc.
