KT, Korea's incumbent telecommunication operator, was established in1981 and fully privatized in 2002. The company has a fixed-line subscriber base in excess of 21 million local subscribers and 6 million broadband subscribers, making it the largest fixed-line provider in Korea. KT's goal is to build a network infrastructure that enables to maintain and strengthen their leadership in providing an innovative Internet experience to the corporate and individual customers. KT selected the Cisco CRS-1 Carrier Routing System as the company's KORNET backbone network solution.
