The Houston Independent School District (HISD) is the largest public school district in Texas, and the seventh largest in the United States. HISD's Electronic Messaging Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and updating the Exchange servers that support the entire 16,000 user District. These Exchange servers were running without virus protection. HISD had just installed its evaluation copy of ScanMail for Exchange when the Melissa virus hit the School District servers. Since the ScanMail for Exchange installation, Trend Micro has protected the District's Exchange servers - keeping them virus- and malicious-code free.
