Brunel was among the first universities in the United Kingdom to adopt IP telephony and has been a Cisco customer since 1999. The university wanted to execute a master plan that will enlarge its Uxbridge campus and concentrate almost all of its teaching, research and administrative facilities there. The university then engaged IBM Global Services to design and deliver an end-to-end IP network, based almost entirely on Cisco IP Communications solutions. IBM and Cisco have created a global alliance to provide solutions, services, and technologies that support on-demand businesses and organizations. The companies offer integrated IP telephony, unified messaging, customer contact centers, rich media communications, and video conferencing solutions through IBM's Global Services organization.
