Horizon Software International is an industry-leading foodservice management technology company, offering comprehensive solutions ranging from point-of-sale to back-of-the house management systems. Horizon wanted to consolidate and redesign its separate application modules in order to provide customers one unified solution, OneSource. Using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition, the development team combined Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Windows Server 2003 with the .NET Framework 2.0 to deliver a highly distributed Windows Forms - based application that can scale from a locally connected operation to a global, "Sometimes-connected" enterprise. The developers appreciated improved productivity while Horizon customers now benefit from a better user interface in a more reliable, highly available configuration of OneSource.
