Power Systems Research is the authoritative source of market information and business intelligence for the power products and drivetrain industry. Each year it completes over 20,000 telephone and onsite interviews with engine manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers, and components suppliers. This information is managed in market databases. Previously, the firm distributed the information on computer diskettes, which resulted in highly ineffective maintenance and shipping procedures. Also, database content had to be manually updated by users. Implementing a unified Web-based portal solution, built with Microsoft .NET Framework using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Internet Information Services, and other Microsoft technologies, has allowed the firm to effectively manage its market data internally and distribute data to customers worldwide on a real-time basis.
