With a 27 percent increase in wireless network subscribers and the addition of 333 employees in 2005, MTN South Africa is growing rapidly. To maintain its high level of service and product innovation, MTN continues to refine its best practices and standardize systems to improve the reliability and availability of its 24-hour-a-day operations. Its quest to reduce costs and increase efficiency led the MTN Information Systems (IS) department to test an early version of the Windows Vista operating system. MTN expected the reduced number of images, new security features, easier-to-use deployment tools, and enhanced automation to significantly reduce deployment and management time for IS staff and reduce worker downtime during the deployment.
