Ce document explique le déroulement de la défragmentation à l'aide du logiciel Diskeeper et les avantages de son déploiement sur les technologies RAID, NAS et SAN modernes et complexes. Les systèmes SAN, les périphériques NAS, les serveurs d'entreprises, les postes de travail fortement sollicités et les ordinateurs de bureau à majorité de traitement multimédia ont généralement recours à de multiples lecteurs de disques dans une forme ou une autre d'entrelacement de disques à tolérance de panne (RAID). L'objectif de cette technologie étant de fournir la redondance des supports et d'améliorer la performance des disques en divisant la charge E/S, les utilisateurs croient souvent, à tort, que la fragmentation n'a pas d'effet négatif.
