In an effort to improve information-worker productivity and IT management efficiency, Petrobras has been an early adopter of the Windows Vista operating system and the 2007 Microsoft Office system. The new desktop environment provides the company with better data analysis, more effective desktop search, enhanced IT security, and more efficient infrastructure management. Due to the enhanced productivity and efficiency of the new IT platform, Petrobras anticipates a potential annual cost-of-ownership savings of approximately U.S.$1.3 million.
