The First People's Hospital of WuXi needed to improve the availability of its core patient care applications and associated database and servers. Downtime totaled 15 hours per year, including five hours unplanned. In addition, the hospital lacked a business continuity solution that could withstand a disaster. Symantec changed this prognosis, providing management and monitoring software for a new campus disaster recovery architecture featuring clustered applications and mirrored storage. The solution has virtually eliminated downtime and helped the hospital save hundreds of thousands of dollars in storage and administration costs.
