By implementing a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) to streamline the Business-to-Business (B2B) e-Commerce activities, Intel IT greatly simplified a complex data integration problem, reduced the investment in end-to-end solutions, and made strategic investments in agile technology for the supply chain. Intel's e-Commerce system supports electronic transactions, supply requests, business orders, purchase orders, and other interactions with trading entities. The infrastructure consists of a set of loosely coupled architectural components: a generic data access layer service and work flow, transformation, and business logic processing engines.
