The NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-53 has special significance in that the security controls contained in the recommended baselines form the basis for those controls that will become mandatory in a Federal Information Processing Standard. The proposed Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 200, Minimum Security Controls for Federal Information Systems, will take effect and be mandatory for federal agencies as required by the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). FIPS 200 will be applicable to all non-national security systems. The aim of this paper is to highlight the identification of the Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Combined Distributed Operating System Target Of Evaluation (TOE) Common Criteria (CC) certified requirements for the NIST recommended security controls of SP 800-53.
