Founded in 1981, Replacements, Ltd. offers the world's largest selection of old and new tableware, serving more than six million customers. The company wanted to maximize availability and performance of reporting, training, and development systems. They wanted to reduce hardware and IT maintenance costs and gain the ability to increase IT capacity incrementally and non-disruptively. The company deployed Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters 10g to create a more reliable, scalable, and cost-effective data infrastructure. Using Oracle Database's Automatic Storage Management (ASM) feature to optimize input/output performance, allows dynamic and non-disruptive changes to the storage configuration while at the same time reducing the ongoing administrative effort for this system.
