Often the only medical professionals for long distances, paramedics of Rural Ambulance Victoria (RAV) in Australia have to rely on their experience and training to save lives. But with the rapid pace of medical advance, including the latest technology and clinical practices, RAV faced the prospect of falling behind in training or busting its budget. Bringing the full complement of paramedics in from the field for a day of training can cost AUD250,000 (US$192,000). RAV found the answer to its training problem in Oracle iLearning, a distance learning system well suited to its need for high quality training technology that works well even over dial-up lines.
