In the scope of fixed/mobile convergence, location of, access to, and management of user data is crucial in order to provide user-centric services to an end user, e.g. roaming from one type of access network to another; provide a federated management of user data towards the network operator to assure data consistency between the application and the access network domains he operates; and provide a migration path when evolving towards a converged network. To this end, Alcatel is building a user-centric data repository architecture able to serve both the application domain and the access domain user data. Moreover, via the Generic User Profile data server, a single point of access is offered to the operator for provisioning the network.
