The Whitman-Hanson Regional School District was using an inflexible router-based Internet access solution that required the local ISP to manage all port-configuration changes. Bandwidth was maxed out without effective tools for bandwidth management or prioritization of users and applications. Denial of service attacks and viruses remained real threats. Whitman-Hanson turned to a solution based on Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, which provides bandwidth management, internal and external access control, secure remote access, and easy centralized administration. Internet performance is up 20 percent, increasing productivity and thrilling users because educational resources are always available for effective use.
