On the streets of many cities, cars don't move much faster than their parked brethren. These endless traffic jams lead to blaring horns, flaring tempers, missed meetings, and an eroding quality of life as noise and pollution increase. The solution, however, doesn't require a return to the horse and buggy. Instead, intelligent traffic systems will manage traffic flow, encourage drivers to use alternate forms of transport, and even enable people to find the services and information they need to drive safely, avoid traffic jams, and perform their daily routine with fewer hassles.
