During the Wimbledon Championships, the AELTC's facilities are highly visible because of the large, concentrated presence of players, the public and the press. The bulk of the organization's efforts throughout the year are therefore focused on operations that span the Championship's fortnight, and it continually strives to provide improved systems, services and facilities for all involved. In 2003, the AELTC went to IBM with new requirements, aiming to improve the Wimbledon experience for press writers and photographers. A team of specialists from IBM Wireless On Demand Solutions and IBM Global Services - Integrated Technology Services (ITS) worked with the AELTC to establish a wireless networking infrastructure that could serve as the foundation for a wide variety of applications and access capabilities.
