A successful capacity management strategy puts the resources in place to deliver just-in-time support of business requirements. Integral to that strategy is the development of a capacity plan that is based on the data from a Capacity Management Database (CDB). According to the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), the CDB is the cornerstone of a successful capacity management process when it operates as a subset of a Configuration Management DataBase (CMDB).
