As IT professionals increasingly view their computing resources as a crucial element in achieving and retaining competitive advantage, the datacenter is evolving into sets of common resources interconnected by different styles of networks. This presentation discusses how a network-independent interconnect also allows to achieve virtualization without application impact. It also discusses interoperability of the OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED) 1.0 supporting InfiniBand and iWARP in a 4 node Intel Bensley-based cluster, where iWARP and InfiniBand technologies are both used, and are transparent from application perspective.
