S&C Electric Company designs and manufactures switching and protection products used in the transmission and distribution of electric power. Rather than relying on another service provider, the company opted to provide its own Internet services, except for e-mail store and forward. S&C engaged Microsoft Exchange Hosted Services to provide e-mail queuing, and later, virus and spam filtering. As a result, S&C has minimized costs, accelerated the time required to implement e-mail system changes, and increased the level of insight into the e-mail system. In addition, the company has addressed new e-mail system challenges with quarterly product updates and delivered virus-free Internet services, including e-mail inboxes that are nearly spam-free.
