Local Continuous Replication (LCR) which formerly was known as the Local Continuous Backup feature is, when speaking high availability and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), an extremely interesting new feature. The LCR feature makes it possible to create and maintain an exact copy (replica) of databases in a storage group on an Exchange 2007 Server to a specified location, which typically would be another server, NAS/SAN or when speaking SBS perhaps even an externally attached USB drive. In this paper, the author talks about what the Local Continuous Replication (formerly known as Local Continuous Backup) feature is all about, as well as shows the reader how this feature is configured in Exchange Server 2007.
