The artwork at Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum possesses one of the world's most spectacular collections from ancient cultures and the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods. However, their displays are distinctly modern as it their need for networked communications. In the late 1990s, the 115-year-old museum, itself an architectural masterpiece, revolutionized its operations by deploying a 3Com Fast Ethernet data and IP telephony solution. To support its expanded business operations, the institution needed to upgrade its infrastructure to Gigabit Ethernet speed. Buoyed by its positive experience with 3Com solutions, including enhanced telephony services such as voice mail, voice conferencing and call forwarding, Kunsthistorisches Museum looked no further than 3Com.
