In 2001, the bank Permanent TSB launched Online Consumer Banking, followed in 2005 by Online Business Banking. The system was developed by the Bank's own in-house IT department and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Security and customer service are both critical success factors, and a high level of performance is key to success. System usage has been very intensive since it went live. It peaks each weekday morning when offices open for business and when consumer customers carry out their transactions.
