Basel II requires banks to change the way in which they assess the risk of extending credit to new borrowers. Working in collaboration with 40 German financial institutions, the challenge for Bank-Verlag was to develop a flexible, standardized and cost-efficient tool that meets the new regulations. The BV Rating engine is a powerful and interactive risk assessment instrument based on BEA WebLogic Server. Full availability is expected by the end of 2004. The new system enables participating banks to achieve early compliance with Basel II through a standardized rating system.
