FreshDirect is one of the nation's leading online fresh food delivery services. The company wanted to scale to support an ever-growing number of concurrent online customers, while lowering total cost of ownership and enhance seamless fail-over capabilities to avoid delays during ordering and eliminate unforeseen outages that were costing as much as $1 million per day in missed revenue. They wanted to select a technology infrastructure partner that provides superior support, including increased availability and ability to upgrade technology quickly. FreshDirect replaced legacy systems with Oracle Database and Oracle Real Application Clusters running on Egenera BladeFrame servers to support mission-critical applications including customer relationship management, delivery administration, store-front, payment processing, and business intelligence.
