The SAS Explorer is a point-and-click interface for performing many tasks that previously required writing SAS code. This paper will explain how to build a simple format viewer and integrate it with the SAS Explorer. It will cover the minimum requirements of a format viewer, the Base SAS and SAS/AF tools used to build it, and how each part is constructed. This paper is suitable for beginning to advanced level SAS users.
