Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) Group is the world's largest supplier of solutions and services for industrial automation technology. A previously deployed Web-based collaboration system was cumbersome and saw limited adoption. Siemens A&D needed a more flexible and user-friendly alternative that provided immediate business impact. With help from deployment partner BlueBridge Technologies AG, A&D deployed an innovative collaboration solution based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services to its 25,000 employees. Early adopting business units embraced the new solution because it enables straightforward team Web site setup and requires only modest user training. Shared calendars, task lists, and document libraries can be tailored to each business team's specific needs.
