At the Honda of America plant in East Liberty, Ohio, as new models of cars go through an initial development cycle, numbers are analyzed and "Start-up" costs of these models are determined. Honda of America's cost project leader is responsible for gathering data, running the numbers, and reporting cost figures to evaluators. One of the project leader's greatest challenges used to be presenting data in an easily understood format without spending an inordinate amount of time creating each presentation. After exploring the full data-sharing capabilities of Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and Office PowerPoint 2003, the project leader reduced what used to be a five-day process to less than a day.
