Does a developer regularly analyze data received in Excel spreadsheets using SAS? Does the developer wish for a single-step method for reading this data into a permanent dataset for analysis? This paper will show developers how to include Excel spreadsheet in SAS using FILENAME and INFILE statements. This method does not require that the developer first save the file as TAB delimited. The developer is able to use the file as he or she received it. This saves processing time for the user, especially if the developer's source for these Excel spreadsheets sends new updated files frequently.
