Migrating from a mainframe to a distributed computing architecture environment can result in a lower level of application availability, but Japanese manufacturer NGK avoided that problem thanks to a technology solution from Symantec. With help from Symantec Business Partner CTC, NGK standardized its software infrastructure on a Symantec datacenter availability solution based on VERITAS NetBackup Enterprise Server, Storage Foundation, and Cluster Server software. The next-generation solution is delivering tangible results, including 100 percent availability since its deployment and a 100 percent success rate in restoring lost and corrupted files.
