Whatever backup solution one applies, a general rule is that one should not keep the backup copy in the same place where one stores the original data. For example, one should not backup data to the same hard disk, because if the disk goes out of order, one can lose both copies of the data at the same time. If one has several disks installed on the system, one can backup from one to another, but it is not the best approach too, because a virus attack or a serious hardware malfunction can damage both disks.
